The Sharp Hospital in Coronado requested a modernization a modernization of their 1970’s cafeteria along with a conversion of a small outdoor terrace into a healing garden for people to enjoy a quiet meal or provide a space where individuals or families can decompress from the stress of visiting someone in the hospital. An abundance of texture, exciting finishes, calming lighting, and a variety of seasonal plants with changing color created a place apart from the clinical environment in the hospital. A new board formed concrete wall shielded the garden from adjacent parking.
